I spent 2.5 years Living In Hotels - Here's what was always missing.

Reports suggest women account for up to 80% of all travel booking decisions and yet the majority of accommodation providers fail to met this basic need.

Sewing Kits, Shoe Horns, Dental Kits, Nail Files, Paper Bag's to dispose of Menstrual Products.

Though never actually Menstrual Products, Pads or Tampon??

In my early 20's I worked for an International chain of Coffee Shops as a Brand Standards Trainer responsible for New Store Opening's as I result I spent a lot of time in hotels . I was somewhere different every 2 weeks. The items listed above are pretty much standard issue in many hotels all of which if needed, we could ask for at reception, they certainly aren't an emergency product.

As I reflect now the interesting part in this for me is that in those 2.5years I never noticed that they were missing, despite I am sure at some stage having to go to reception to ask or take a trip to the local supermarket to pick up some menstrual pads.

Apparently I'm not the only one that feels this way, in her article in The Caterer in 2018 - Hannah Frances stated it.

"It would be encouraging to see more hotels accommodating the basic, and often urgent, needs of female guests by making these products available. Everyone has their preferences in terms of absorbency, and some prefer reusable products, but it's a ‘just in case' measure that I know most women would appreciate if they were caught out with an early period."

Why Menstrual Products Matter in Hotels

Over 85% of women have reported starting their period unexpectedly in public, making access to products in hotels a significant comfort and health issue.

  • Unexpected needs: Menstruation can start unexpectedly, and having access to products where they are needed at point of use, is an issue that we shouldn't be experienceing in 2026.

  • Health and hygiene: Using proper menstrual products is crucial for hygiene and comfort.

  • Inclusivity: Providing menstrual products shows respect and consideration for all guests.

Hotels that fail are missing an opportunity to enhance guest satisfaction.

Happy Customers - Surely that's what every business wants

Reports suggest women account for up to 80% of all travel booking decisions and yet the majority of accommodation providers fail to met this basic need.

Providing menstrual products benefits hotels beyond guest comfort:

  • Improved guest reviews: Guests appreciate thoughtful amenities, leading to positive feedback.

  • Increased loyalty: Meeting basic needs encourages repeat visits.

  • Enhanced reputation: Demonstrates commitment to inclusivity and guest well-being.

  • Competitive advantage: Differentiates the hotel in a crowded market.

How Hotels Can Implement Menstrual Product Availability

Stock a selection of pads & tampons in Bathrooms & all Public Toilets

  • Place a small basket stocked with menstrual products in each bathroom. This allows guests to access what they need without asking or having to search for change for vending machines.

  • Choose products with minimal or biodegradable packaging to reduce environmental impact and appeal to eco-conscious travellers.

We have a range of options available please reach out and together lets create " a world where the cyclical nature of women is understood, integrated and respected in every day life."
