Clear Sky or Misty Morning.

Updated: Jan 8

"Misty mornin', Don't see no sun

I know you're out there somewhere

Having fun

There is one mystery (yeah)

I just can't express

To give your more

To receive your less"

Bob Marley.

Crisp, cold, starry skies last night had me envisaging a beautiful Carlingford Lough Sunrise. A quick check lead me to discover it would also work for high tide, so a swim was possible. I shared the possibility with the swim group, a few others answered the call and the plans were made.

Expecting frost, I allowed some extra time and woke anticipating the icy coldness of the sea and the beauty of the sunrise.

I scrapped the ice of the car and headed off. Within less than a mile the fog was thick and visibility poor.

I met the others at the agreed meeting point. We travelled on together, chat and catch up's happening as we drove. Hoping that by the time we got to the sea, the conditions would be different.

That wasn't the case, the water was perfectly calm (technical term - it was perfect flat calm). We were greeted by a colony of seagulls, who seemed equally as confused as we were with the density of the fog.

Will we, won't we? until in true Mrs Doyle form someone said " ah you will" so in we went, tentatively navigating the stony entrance, a distraction from the icy cold water. Some taking their time to submerge, others straight in.

All accepted, all welcome, a sense of connection shared experience and a touch of magic as the experience was absorbed.

It may have been misty, foggy and icy cold. The company and experience were so warming for body, mind and soul, so many lessons embodied.

Even when we can't see it, the sun always rises and either way those moments just before Sunrise hold a certain magic.

As I looked for the perfect song to accompany a photo I came across Misty Morning by Bob Marley and The Wailers. What a perfect tune that I have been playing in my head all day.

I invite you to have a listen.
